kevin.gif

The next installment in Tecmo’s survival horror series ‘Fatal Frame’ has been announced as coming to Wii! Fatal Frame requires you to take pictures of ghosts to defeat them, and it’s pretty darn creepy.

Get this too… it’s being developed by Grasshopper Studios, the team behind No More Heroes. Get the feeling they like the Wii? Keep your eyes peeled for more info on this next year.

Drawn to Life Review

kevin.gif

Drawn to Life on the DS can best be summed up with one word: unique. THQ has crafted a wonderfully original game. However, past Drawn to Life’s original elements is a very ‘by the books’ platforming adventure, and due to its lack of depth it will have trouble keeping you entertained.

This little guy will could come out of a Pokeball item. While he’s small, he still packs a punch, since he uses his move “Surf” to create a wave that washes across the stage and carries anybody caught in it off the edge. The simpler the level, the more effective it will be.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles dated for North America

Capcom’s survival-horror franchise, Resident Evil, is coming to the Wii! Well, for the second time since Resident Evil 4 was ported to the system… But a new Resident Evil is coming to the Wii! Subtitled Umbrella Chronicles, the former third-person adventure series has been adapted into an on-rails shooter, allowing to point and shoot the zombie fiends using the Wii’s unique controller. People wondering how that transition is going to work will have their answer later this year. Japanese developer, Capcom, revealed during the Tokyo Game Show that the game will hit North America on November 13th.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is sort of a remake in that you’ll be playing through multiple events in the game from previous titles. Playing through the events of Resident Evil 0, 1, and 3, you’ll also play through brand-new locales and new story elements, all detailing the fall of the sinister corporation, Umbrella. The game features support for Nintendo’s upcoming peripheral, the Wii Zapper, as well as 2-player co-operative play. The game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB, and will cost $49.95 (US).

No More Heroes coming to North America!

kevin.gif

Ubisoft has revealed that they have signed on to publish Suda 51’s stylish action game ‘No More Heroes’ in North America!

If you don’t already know, ‘No More Heroes’ is the story of a character named Touchdown, who runs around an open environment with his light beam sword. His goal is to take down the top ten assassins in the world, so that he will become the number one assassin. Suda 51 also made ‘Killer 7′ on the Gamecube.

The game is ultra stylized and ultra violent, and should be a can’t miss for gamers looking for a more mature title on their Wii. Ubisoft will be publishing the game here in February.

TGS 2007: Time Hollow coming to DS

kevin.gif

The madness of TGS will really start to go down tomorrow, but here’s a nice little tidbit to get things started.

Konami announced at their press conference today an all new title for DS called Time Hollow. Time Hollow is an adventure title directed by Junko Kawano, the guy behind Shadow of Destiny on the PS2.

You play as a high school student whose life is turned upside down when his parents suddenly disappear. Your character finds the Hollow Pen, an item with the ability to open holes in time and change past events. This will be a very key gameplay element.

That’s really all we have to go on, but there may be more as the days go on. Stay tuned!

Smash Bros. Update - Creatures from Subspace

chris.gif

The adventure mode in Brawl, The Subspace Emissary, features many new enemies to the Nintendo universe. These enemies are known as the Subspace Army. Let’s meet some of them…

These characters are known as Roader and Poppant. Roaders ride in groups and are fast and powerful, while Poppants are much nicer. They walk around with pants full of candy (…ooohkay….) but their cowards and they run away when you get near.

These guys are Bytan and Trowlon. Byton multiply quickly so you have to destroy them fast. Trowlon uses his trowl-like arms to pick characters up and carry them off.

Shaydas and Auroros. Shaydas has a weak spot on his chest, and Auroros will dive at you from above, but if he misses he’ll stick in the ground and you can pick him out.

The first guy is Greap. He’s pretty huge and will attack you with his giant scythes. His weak spot is his head. Lastly we have The R.O.B. Squad. Boy do these guys look familiar. Some of them fire beams, and other fire missiles.

Unleash the Force with your Wii!

chris.gif

Fellow Star Wars nerds and Wii owners… it’s time to geek out.

star-wars-force-unleashed-thumb1.jpg

LucasArts announced today that they are currently developing a Wii version of their upcoming game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. While the graphics won’t be as stellar as the 360 and PS3 versions, us Wii users get something that those guys don’t:

Duel Mode.

That’s right. In the Wii version an extra mode will be included that lets you have a lightsaber duel against another player (whether this can be online has yet to be said).

LucasArts to Unleash the Force on the Wii in Spring 2008Star Warsâ„¢: The Force Unleashedâ„¢ Coming to Nintendo’s Platform with Exclusive Duel Mode

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Sept. 18, 2007 - LucasArts today revealed that Star Warsâ„¢: The Force Unleashedâ„¢ will come to the Wiiâ„¢ home videogame system from Nintendo next spring, offering owners the unique chance to live out their Jedi fantasies by wielding the Wii Remoteâ„¢ as a lightsaber while using the Nunchukâ„¢ controller to torment foes with their Forceâ„¢ powers.

The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The game’s expansive story is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

The Wii version, in development by Krome Studios, will also add an exclusive duel mode in which players can compete head-to-head with their friends to determine the ultimate Jedi Master.

“The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console’s motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts. “We’ve worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.”

I think I’m tearing up a bit…

Smash Bros. Update - Wi-Fi Confirmed!

chris.gif

wi-fi01_070918a-l.jpg

Today’s update from the official Smash Bros. website finally confirms online play within Brawl. Players will be able to play either with friends (using friend codes) or with anybody in the world (though, as usual, no communication is allowed). In “With Friends” mod, players can play together freely, see if each friend is online, and challenge them to a game. Within the game players can send short messages to each other, or “taunts”, which are pre-programmed to the D-Pad. How these taunts will translate into other control schemes hasn’t been said yet. With Friends mode allows you to play in other modes as well, rather than just free-for-all, and statistics for all of these matches are kept.

In “With Anyone” mode, you are matched up with strangers in a free-for-all battle. No communication is allowed (not even the pre-programmed taunts), and not even your names are shared with other players, so it would seem that after a battle there is no rival’s list like other games, on which to add players that you’ve fought against that you’d like to fight again. No statistics are tracked for these games, so worldwide online leaderboards are out…

Sakurai-san states that other uses for Wi-Fi and WiiConnect24 are planned, but he’s not saying anything yet.

More images after the jump!
