Wal-Mart Canada Corp. to cut game prices to match U.S.

Canadian gamers have been waiting very patiently (we’re Canadian after all) for this to finally happen with the gap almost completely closed between the US and Canadian dollar.

Quote from Globe and Mail:

“Wal-Mart Canada Corp. has pulled the trigger in what is shaping up as a holiday-season price war in video games, preparing to cut prices to U.S. levels on new releases and some current games.

It’s just one reflection of the growing pressure from consumers to bring down retail prices on this side of the border, in line with the rising value of the Canadian dollar.”

And from the realm of awesome ideas…

Comes SEGA Superstar Tennis! What you basically need to know is that it’s Mario Tennis, but with Sega characters instead. Sonic, AiAi, Ulala, the Samba de Amigo monkey thing… plus lots more that they haven’t shown! It’s also being developed by the same guys that made Virtua Tennis, so it should be solid gameplay-wise.

It’s being released on every system in existence, including DS and Wii, in early 2008.

Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe! (for DS)

Yes, that is actually the title. Aside from having the best name ever, it’s also a remake of my personal favorite Kirby game, Kirby Superstar. Eight games in one, all of them awesome! Apparently no touch screen controls, but whatever, it’s a wicked game, so keep an eye out for more info.

First details on Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Intelligent Systems has revealed first details and screenshots on the next Advance Wars game for DS. They’re going with a much darker theme this time, as can be seen by the game’s much darker color pallete. Most of the world has been destroyed by meteors, and naturally, us humans decide to fight over what’s left. No big gameplay details so far, but there are rumblings of a January release date and Wi-Fi play, both of which would rock many socks. Check out these first couple screens after the jump.

Crash of the Titans review

Ah, Crash Bandicoot. We remember your days on the PS1. The platforming, the comedy, and the ridiculous spin-attack, we miss them all. But since Naughty Dog left the franchise, it just hasn’t been the same. The lovable former-Sony mascot has come so close to being driven into the ground for so many people. But surprisingly, after numerous attempts at revitalizing the franchise, developer Radical Entertainment has finally found a formula that works. And boy, does it work. We now have Crash of the Titans. Crash, welcome back!

Smash Bros. Brawl Delayed

Gamers everywhere gathered hands, and fell to their knees in pain this Thursday; each one staring at their blindingly luminous computer screens. No matter what the site, everyone read the same thing. It wasn’t war. It wasn’t famine. It wasn’t the fact that Britney Spears’ divorce/child situation makes top headlines after a freakin’ month. This was far, far worse.

During Nintendo’s current press conference today in San Francisco, they announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl would be delayed until February 10th, 2008 in North America. The other night in Japan, it was announced that the game would be delayed in the Japanese market until the end of January. We all laughed. Well, cruel fate has turned the joke on us. We are now getting the game two weeks after Japan. When giving a reason, Nintendo simply said they decided the game needed more time.

It's alright, Dawson. We understand your pain.

It’s alright, Dawson. Your tears say it all.
