Rumor: No More Heroes release pushed up in NA?

No More Heroes is shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles hitting the Wii next year.  Created by Killer 7 mastermind, Suda 51, the title blends humour, an interesting visual style, and a lot of bloody action together.  It’s really turning heads.

But while previously announced to come out around the second week of February, we were all excited and concerned.  Why?  Well, what else is coming out in February?  Well, I don’t know… maybe a game called Smash Brothers Brawl?!  Plenty of people have tried to get it through publisher Ubisoft’s head that releasing this game so close to such a hotly anticipated title is going to leave this game slaughtered at retailers.  Especially considering how poorly this game did in Japan.

Well while this is still just a rumor, it seems Ubisoft may have noticed something was wrong with the game’s release in the Americas.  Numerous online retailers have bumped the game’s release date up to as early as January 22nd.  Ubisoft has yet to make an official statement regarding whether this release date is in fact real or not.  But we certainly hope it is.  Considering all the hands-on impressions from people who’ve tried the title out, it certainly sounds like one solid action title.  It would be a shame to see this game ignored, even if it is next to Brawl.  We’ll keep you updated if this is in fact real or not.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 review

The Wii doesn’t have much in terms of first-person shooters, and the ones that exist are certainly of poor quality in terms of effort from the developers and what the system itself is capable of. The EA-published Medal of Honor Heroes 2 has hit the Wii in hopes of changing that. The title is set in the WWII era, not only making this the third WWII FPS the system has seen, but the second under the Medal of Honor license that we’ve seen in this year. The previous installment, Medal of Honor: Vanguard, really suffered from muddy visuals, inconsistent AI, and somewhat passable control. Does this leap into the fray result in a heroic victory, or does Heroes 2 suffer the same wounds as before?

Wii News Channel has been quietly updated…

This was a rather small update to the channel, but nevertheless, it’s an update. The changes have automatically been put into affect, so you don’t need to update your system.

The changes include:

-Individual news feeds

-New news resources

-New categories

-More news for your country.

As much as we could say that no one uses the channel, my own father has taken an interest in the channel, and while he doesn’t check it everyday or anything, if he sees me browsing through the channels, he usually asks me to check it quickly. Whaddya know?

Ultimate Mortal Kombat review

Ultimate Mortal Kombat is a solid compilation piece. The package includes Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, one of the best 2D fighters from the arcade era, and the Puzzle Kombat minigame which was found on Mortal Kombat: Deception on last-generation consoles. For the most part, handheld titles in the franchise have been extremely sub-par. However, Other Ocean Interactive has managed to successfully bring Mortal Kombat to the DS without sacrificing the game’s quality. And with the addition of being able to play both games locally and online, fans of the genre and the franchise are sure to find a lot to like here.

Monkeys + fast driving = Emergency Mayhem!

Emergency Mayhem is a just announced Wii game from Codemasters. You drive frantically around a city to crisis (similar to Crazy Taxi), then play some silly mini games to solve the crisis. Sounds like fun to me! And oh yes, there’s psychotic monkeys in vests and hats that you have to tranquilize. No, it doesn’t make sense… but does that really matter?

More from the Codemasters press release after the jump!

Square drops some DS release dates

Square-Enix has announced some more DS release dates.

The highly anticipated multiplayer action-RPG Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates will be hitting store shelves on March 11th, 2008.

Meanwhile, Square announced that they’re bringing The World Ends With You (It’s A Wonderful World in Japan) to the Americas in spring 2008. It’s a stylish DS action RPG that deals a lot with Japanese culture. And the end of the world. Sounds pretty cool to me.

Atlus announces Baroque for Wii

Today, Atlus USA announced they are publishing ‘Baroque’ for Wii. It’s an obscure Japanese RPG (hey, it’s from Atlus) that received some pretty good reviews over there. Atlus’ press release describes it as “Dark, addictively challenging, and totally immersive”. Sounds pretty good to me.

Dark, creepy, immersive RPG with pretty good graphics? Sounds like just the type of title the Wii needs. It’s slated to release in the already busy month of February. You can check out more screenshots and a trailer at the game’s official site, or read more about the game in the press release after the jump.
