Yes, we’re alive… PLUS a rumour!

Okay, so one update in a week is pretty bad… I can’t speak for the other writers, but I know I’ve been VERY busy finishing up first semester at college, plus news has been really boring this week. Once school is done for me and Shaan there’s going to be a pile of game reviews going up, not to mention more time to look for news and post it. Consider this last week our ’studying for final exams’ break. We’re still here, and we’re still dedicated to bringing you the Nintendo news you care about.

There HAS been a rather interesting rumor making its way around the internet however. Well, it’s not so much a rumor as much as a tease which originated from an IGN podcast that they weren’t allowed to delve into. The gossip tree is saying that “a major classic franchise” will be returning for Wii. No developer has or publisher has been specified, but we’re all guessing. Kid Icarus? Punch-Out? Rogue Squadron? Who knows… but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on in the next couple weeks.

And oh yeah, No More Heroes looks awesome. That is all!

About damn time!

Nyko once again continues to beat Nintendo to every punch when it comes to Wii accessories. My prime example is the rechargeable Wii-mote stand (which works wonders for me by the way). They’re doing it again now with an even bigger deal. We all wondered why the nunchuck attachment wasn’t made wireless from the start. For one sexy-looking system, that wire tethering the remote to the nunchuck unit just pulls that illusion away from you.  Well, Nyko is once again on that issue and has just announced the Wireless Nunchuck.

The layout appears to be the same, and it looks really nice. Personally, this will nicely compliment my Nyko Charge Station. I’m going to be picking this up the second it hits shelves.

The guys over at IGN got the exclusive on this one. Check it out here.

Contra 4 review

Twenty years ago, the world learned the meaning of ‘awesome’. The original Contra hit arcades, but didn’t truly gain popularity until the series came to the NES. The series continued to Super Contra, and Contra III: The Alien Wars, both of which maintained the amazing level of quality held in the first. Eventually moving on to the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, Genesis, PS1 and PS2, the series quickly deteriorated into nothing but a name that Konami slapped onto poorly developed titles to spur some level of interest and sales. But despite the poor quality, Super Contra and Contra III were still burned into gamers’ memories as titles that deserved such high respect. To celebrate the original’s 20th Anniversary, Konami has published a brand new numbered iteration of the series - the first in 15 years. Contra 4 is a complete throwback to the original game design that made the series so memorable, with the ‘4′ meaning to symbolize the series’ return to the quality that was found in the original three games. But has the Old School design aged gracefully enough to warrant another title?
