5 minute Brawl gameplay video

EDIT: Link should be good now!

I’m not usually one to post up movies or trailers, unless it’s for a feature, but this one is just too good to be passed up. FIVE MINUTES of pure gameplay from the Japanese version of Brawl.

Why, oh why did this get delayed?

Slight Change in Site Look

I always like to change around things, and you might notice some slight changes with the look of nWaffle. I’m just tidying things up and trying some slight redesigning. Nothing huge, but working with WordPress and my own inexperience in site design, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way of working with the site while it’s still up without changing anything live, so whatever. I’m going to go ahead and change things live. There’s a very slight chance I screw everything up royally, but that would be only temporary. You can also watch the whole thing progress, which is sort of neat.I’ll let you all know in this post when I’m “done”. Then you can comment on the changes, and if you all hate it we can go back to how it was before.

_____

Well, it’s pretty much done now. At least all the major stuff. There’s still plenty of tweaking to do, and as well I hope to have some images at the top of the sidebar to the most recent review or what-have-you. You’ll also notice a register/login button on the sidebar. This is so you can register to post comments. We’ve also got a button now for our RSS feed if that’s your thing. Anyway, I hope you guys like it. There’s still a little more to be done, but this is essentially it. Let me know what you think.

Rumor - Brawl Roster Revealed

As we get closer to Brawl’s Japanese release date which is just over a week from today, the likelyhood of a leak gets larger and larger. This comes from 2chan, which is far from a reliable source. Though they have come out with plenty of legitimate stuff in the past, so I’ll let you guys debate it. The picture of the disc and a short video of the character selection screen are after the jump!

Wii (Heart) Mondays! 01/21/08

Virtual Console

Adventures of Lolo 2, NES, 500 Points

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, SNES, 800 Points

This Week’s Releases

It’s a pretty big week for Wii, with both Endless Ocean and No More Heroes arriving. I’ve seen advertisements from most stores for Endless Ocean selling for $29.99. It’s a good price and for a promising “non-game”, well-worth checking into. Of course, there’s also No More Heroes, which is definitely worth your money. It sold disappointingly in Japan, but it’s time to show them how we do things in Canada. If you have to choose between the two, though, go with No More Heroes.

Of course, let’s not overlook Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, which is seeing a huge pre-launch party in New York. If you’re a fan of Advance Wars (or even if you’re not) I shouldn’t need to convince you to pick up this title.

Bangai-O Spirits for DS coming to North America

The remake/sequel of Treasure’s cult hit (and previously Japan only) N64/Dreamcast shooter Bangai-O is heading to the DS. Even better, it’s coming to North America courtesy of D3 Publisher in Q2 2008! I don’t really know how to describe this game, except that it’s absolute insanity. The more chaos and destruction you cause, the more points you get. There’s multiplayer modes and a level editor as well. The video does a better job explaining it than I do.

Rumor: Factor 5’s Wii game is Kid Icarus

The guys over at Kombo are reporting that Factor 5’s Wii exclusive game is in fact a new version of Kid Icarus developed from the ground up for the Wii. All they cite is ‘inside sources’, so we have to treat this as a rumor for now, but it is still very exciting if it’s true.

A Closer Look - Nanostray 2

‘A Closer Look’ is a weekly feature here at nWaffle where I take a closer look (get it?) at a great looking game that isn’t getting the hype it should be. No Smash Bros., no Mario, no Zelda around here… just the little guys that deserve just as much attention, but don’t get it. This week’s game is Nanostray 2 for the DS.

Console Classica - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

consoleclassica.jpg

We at nWaffle are proud to introduce our newest feature - The Console Classica. With this weekly feature, we’ll take a look back at some classic titles from an enormous list of games. Going back to as early as the NES, all the way to the final titles to hit the Gamecube, we’re going to look at what these games did so great, or so horribly, and how they shaped our industry. And what better way to start this feature off than with what is arguably one of the greatest games of all time - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Nintendo reveals Wii/DS releases for the first half of 2008

Nintendo has just sent out a press release encompassing the majority of the games coming to their two platforms from now until the end of June.  Note that some of these aren’t finalized, so there still could be some last minute changes.  It’s looking to actually be a much crazier first half than I previously anticipated.

Myst coming to DS

Empire Interactive today announced that they are remaking the classic PC adventure Myst for the Nintendo DS. According to the company, environments have been enhanced, there’s an all new soundtrack written specially for the DS remake, and a whole new age called ‘The Rime Age’ has been added. Myst is also totally controlled by the touch screen.  I never got into this title when it was first released, but I know it has a ton of fans worldwide.
