New (Nice) Screens for FFCC:TLKATPL

I really wanted to use that outrageous abbreviation.

Today Jeux-France has given us almost two-dozen higher-res images from Square Enix’s upcoming WiiWare title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Little King and the Promised Land. No more grainy little magazine scans! Suffice to say, the game looks pretty amazing (you can see an older trailer for the game, with a hint of gameplay here), and I’m wondering just how the Wii will be able to handle downloading a game of such a size. Wii Hard Drive anybody? Please Nintendo?

Just to remind everyone, the game will release in March in Japan for a price of 1,500 points. Still no word, though, of a North American release date, or even if that price will stick. Let’s hope it’s cheaper.

Bionic Commando for the Wii Petition

chris.gif

logo_bioniccommando.jpg

I’m sure most of you know that an (extreme) update to the classic NES game Bionic Commando is being planned for the PC, XBOX 360, and PS3. What about the Wii? A representative of Capcom has stated that while there are currently no plans on bringing the game to the Wii, that could easily change if there was enough demand for it, and Wii fans showed enough support for it. If you want to see a trailer for the game in question click here. While the Wii could probably not handle a simple port of the game, there’s nothing stopping a modified (or even from-scratch) version of the game reaching the Wii except your support!

RawMeatCowboy of GoNintendo.com has started an internet petition directed at Capcom to bring Bionic Commando to the Wii. If you want to see it on the Wii, sign! Even if you don’t care, sign up anyway. It takes less than a minute and helps out those of us who do care.

Read About/Sign the Petition Here

I’ve already signed my name onto it. You should do the same. Spread the word! I realise that internet petitions rarely have an effect, but you never know. This could be the time that it makes a difference!

Smash Bros. officially delayed, again

Well, the rumors are true. The official Smash Bros. site has updated with information that the game has been delayed to March 9th in North America.

“Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.”

Yes, we’re all sad. But it IS only a month, and there are some quality titles coming out in the meantime. I know personally I had a TON to do at school that week. Still, less than a month away and it gets delayed for the second time… hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

Factor 5 working on Wii game

Factor 5 President Julian Eggebrecht has confirmed that his company is working on a full fledged game for the Wii. That means not a Virtual Console game and not a WiiWare game, but an original title built from the ground up to utilize the Wii hardware. Factor 5 are best known for their work on the Nintendo 64/Gamecube ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’ series. They’re also known for being technical wizards and pushing consoles to their limits, so whatever they’re working on, we can be sure it’s going to be pretty.

Sonic Chronicles: first details, screens

We’ve finally got the first details on Bioware’s Sonic RPG, now titled Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. One of GoNintendo’s readers got a hold of the Nintendo Power with the exclusive story and posted brief details from the article. The story has Sonic on an adventure to rescue Knuckles and the six chaos emeralds from an evil group called the Marauders. Apparently the story is going to delve deeper into the relationship between Eggman and Sonic. Gameplay-wise, characters don’t enter a battle screen, but the battles will be turn based, requiring you to input actions before the animations take place. Certain special attacks are said to play out like the hit rhythym game ‘Elite Beat Agents’. You can have up to four members in your party, and eleven characters have been confirmed so far including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, and Rouge.

The game is high on the presentation values, having a very clean lookng water color/hand drawn style. There are also said to be fully animated cut scenes, dialogue trees (a Bioware staple) and several sidequests. We were excited about this game before it was announced, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the top DS games of the year.

Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles screens and info revealed via boxart

Gonintendo was lucky enough to get the first look at the mysterious DS version of Assassin’s Creed. Not from a press release or anything, though, but through the game’s boxart. The game is a prequel to the story of the console versions. We still have yet to get any info on how this game is controlled, if the fully 3D-rendered environments are actually fully explorable or if they’re in a 2D layout, or if it’s any good. One of our biggest fears for this title was that this would be just another cash-in like Battles of Prince of Persia on the DS. But what is assuring is that the developer is Gameloft, a very well-respected Mobile developer. They’ve actually managed to make some very high-quality cell phone games, as well as the remake of the original Prince of Persia for Xbox Live Arcade.  The latter of which was masterfully done and received great critical success. So hopefully, that same masterful craftsmanship will apply to this title.

Smash Bros. Update - Olimar’s moves, Zelda’s Final Smash, Sheik and more!

Today isn’t just an interesting day for the Dojo updates with Sakurai release Olimar’s special moves.  But it’s even more interesting with some leaked information from the latest CoroCoro magazine.

First, Olimar’s special moves.  Basically like Pikmin, each of your little pikmin has very special attribute.  Blues can take more damage, Blacks are slower, Reds have incendiary properties, etc.  Check the Dojo for the full description, but let me say on a personal note that I’m very excited for this character!  He looks like one of the more inventive, strategic, and all-round interesting characters to appear in the game thus far.  Any fight with Olimar involved is bound to be very interesting!

Captain Olimar (and Pikmin!) playable in Brawl!

Amidst nasty rumors of another delay, the official Smash Bros. site has updated with some awesome news! Captain Olimar (and his army of Pikmin) are playable characters!

According to the site, Olimar will have to use the Pikmin for all his special attacks, and they’re able to be knocked out just like any other character. Of course, Olimar can always just pull out more when he needs them! Check out Smashbros.com for more screenshots.
