Nintendo hosting Brawl tournaments - Canada getting in on the action
A while ago, rumours about Nintendo hosting numerous tournaments in celebration of the upcoming Smash Bros. title were surfacing. Well those rumours certainly have come true. Held at the Nintendo World Store (a Nintendo fan’s wet dream) in New York City, the first night of the tournament apparently went really well according to some people who attended. Of course, there was a large turn-out as the public finally got their hands on Brawl. Other tournaments were apparently hosted across the country, but not too many details were revealed regarding these other venues.
But while the U.S. usually gets most of the love regarding these tours and tourneys, Nintendo of Canada is jumping on board to give Canadian Smash-ers a chance to jump in. Revealing some very exciting news on their site, dates, times, and locations were listed in this collaboration between Nintendo and EB Games.
The tournament is set to have three rounds. The first is a basic qualifying round held over three weekends in various cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, and Calgary. These would be followed by the regional semi-finals held on April 26th. Then for the big standoff, players, courtesy of Nintendo of Canada, will be flown in to face-off in Toronto. The victor will come out with a trip for two to NYC and to the Nintendo World Store. Sound awesome? Yeah, thought so!
Registration for the Canadian tournament begins March 9th, so I’ll recommend you register BEFORE you go pick up your copy of Brawl. Hope to see you all in the tournament. Oh, and be sure to post your address in the forums so I can send you all postcards from my awesome trip to NYC and the Nintendo World Store.

Is this already out on the DS?
I’ll probably go to a qualifier, I know I’m not a serious contender but I’m one of the best in my circle at Melee so who knows.

Can we get more information on this? Also do we have to go every day or just the days we play?
