Battalion Wars II review

Battalion Wars II is the sequel to the sleeper hit original on the Nintendo Gamecube. Nintendo’s action-heavy take on real-time strategy returns on the Nintendo Wii with not only Wii-specific controls, but also an emphasis on multiplayer, a feature which the first title lacked entirely. But does this game still put up a fight?

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Review

Well, here I sit, waiting for EBGames to get Galaxy in stock. I figured it would be a good opportunity to reflect on last week’s Mario release: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games! My shoulders are still burning from my most recent play session! Mario and Sonic managed to impress me with it’s addicting nature and solid gameplay. However, some flaws kept it from rising up into true greatness.

Victorious Boxers: Revolution review

Victorious Boxers: Revolution is an anime-based boxing game. Taking Wii Sports’ simplistic boxing mode and building on top of that with some solid depth, the Wii finally has a full-out boxing title. Developed in Japan by Grand Prix and Cavia, the game has a very distinct Japanese flair that’s impossible to deny. However, does it pull a knockout, or should it simply throw in the towel?

Zack and Wiki Review

Let’s get one thing out of the way right away: Zack and Wiki has a stupid title. I’ll admit, when it was first announced I completely ignored it because I thought it was a game based on some horrible Nickelodeon cartoon series. Don’t let Zack and Wiki’s title and outward appearance fool you into thinking this is a game for kids though. Zack and Wiki is a challenging, lengthy adventure that will have you ripping your brains out through your nose trying to figure out its tough puzzles. The challenge is all worth it though, as Capcom’s latest effort is also one of the best games to come out on the Wii so far.

MySims Review

mysims_artbox.jpg

Take EA’s The Sims and Nintendo’s Animal Crossing and stick them in a blender. Add a heaping spoonful of unabashed anime cuteness and you’ve got MySims. Sounds like a perfect combination right? Well, sort of. The end result is far from the spectacular gaming smoothie that you would expect, and while it does have its merits, particularly a terrific building mode, it falls far short of what it could be.

Crash of the Titans review

Ah, Crash Bandicoot. We remember your days on the PS1. The platforming, the comedy, and the ridiculous spin-attack, we miss them all. But since Naughty Dog left the franchise, it just hasn’t been the same. The lovable former-Sony mascot has come so close to being driven into the ground for so many people. But surprisingly, after numerous attempts at revitalizing the franchise, developer Radical Entertainment has finally found a formula that works. And boy, does it work. We now have Crash of the Titans. Crash, welcome back!

Metroid Prime 3 Review

Reviewer: Shaan

People don’t seem too sure as what the Nintendo Wii really is. It’s either a console that is meant for casual gamers to get into simple, accessible games, or it’s a console meant for everyone that can allow for all genres of games. So far, first-person shooters on the console haven’t proven to be of the highest quality. Now it’s time for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the finale to Nintendo’s sci-fi trilogy, to take a swing of the Wii-mote, but does the title from Retro Studios prove the control for an FPS once and for all?

Mario Strikers Charged Review

Mario Strikers Charged

Review by Kevin.

Mario sure likes to dabble in his sporting events, doesn’t he? If it isn’t golf, it’s tennis. And if it isn’t tennis, it’s baseball. It was only a matter of time before the world’s most popular plumber took a try at the world’s most popular sport: soccer (or football, for all you Europeans). Mario Strikers Charged is the sequel to the 2005 Gamecube release Super Mario Strikers, and while Charged does a lot to improve upon it’s predecessor, the game still remains a frustrating experience lacking a whole lot of depth.
