While I’m at it, I might as well mention this story, at the top of the Sonic and the Black Knight NP cover. Capcom confirmed at E3 the existence of a Wii version of Dead Rising. They also released a few screens of the game.

More screens can be seen here…

Remember that teaser in the back of last month’s Nintendo Power? I do, and I certainly wasn’t expecting this to come of it. While the issue has yet to hit newsstands, at least not here, I find it unlikely that this is some cruel photoshoppery.

While I’ve said before, I’ve never been a big Sonic guy myself, even this gets me completely baffled. While we don’t have any more details about this game other than this cover image, it’s garnered quite the negative reaction around the Interwebs. What is Sega thinking this time? First we get Sonic Unleashed, which looks like an awesome 2D/3D back-to-basics Sonic game, but lately seems to be becoming more and more like a slow-paced Were-sloth action game. Then there’s this, which looks like it’s going to be a sword combat game. 1:1 perhaps? If Sega’s going to go that route, then why not create a new IP for it, rather than trying to fit an existing and beloved IP into it?

I could be wrong, though. This game could be amazing. I suppose time will tell.

NeoGAF

*Update* It looks like SonicAndTheBlackKnight.com was registered by the Sega Corporation at the beginning of this month. I’d say that this game is now confirmed.

The MTV Multiplayerblog scored an interview with the one and only Shiggy today, and he told them his logic as to why people should be attracted to Wii Music, rather than more serious music/rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Since I can’t watch the video for myself (since MTV’s videos don’t play in the UK or Canada) I’m going to rely on what Destructoid says that he said…

What I find what is fun about music [games] is when you really get into a good rhythm and you have a great time performing. But the challenge is then, how do you do that in a way where people don’t have to worry about hitting the wrong note or making a mistake? So, that’s really been our focus with designing Wii Music.

So basically, we should be excited for Wii Music because it doesn’t take any skill, offers absolutely no challenge, and basically functions no better than a $60 Play-at-Home Saxophone toy? If a game offers no challenge, it’s not really a game at all. It’s a toy. There’s no reward for doing well. There isn’t even a “well” to be doing. The game doesn’t even track your performance. Granted, you can record videos of your performance, so you can brag to all your friends.

“Check out how fast I pressed buttons in this part! (And it still sounded awesome!)” or “Hey guys! Look! At this part I’m bending forward… but get this… now I’m bending backwards!! Isn’t that rad?!”

Can you tell I’m really not excited for this game?

As if you need more reason to buy The Conduit… It seems High Voltage Software has announced today that their highly anticipated FPS is going to include 16-Player online, as well as support for Nintendo’s new peripheral WiiSpeak, a set-top conference-esque microphone which will allow for in-game (I would assume, though I was wrong with Metroid Prime: Hunters) voice communication.

Great news, and it’s official that High Voltage is my new favourite third-party developer of ever. Though, as I’ve expressed my opinions on Nintendo’s WiiSpeak idea in the forums, I’m still skeptical about how well WiiSpeak will work with the background sound effects of blowing aliens’ heads off.

Thought we were gonna slack off at E3 like we have the last couple months? THINK AGAIN. Nintendo’s press conference doesn’t go until tomorrow, but they’ve already dropped a surprise. A new Wiimote attatchment! And this one actually looks useful! Nintendo describe it best themselves:

Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

1:1 movement, finally! Now, if they reveal a kickass game to go with this tomorrow, they’ll be set. Here’s a link if you don’t believe me.

I hate to interrupt your playing of the Wii version of Alone in the Dark.

Hah. See what I did there? None of you are playing this game. And if you are, I pity you. Do you know why? Because this game, which showed a lot of promise, is actually awful. Nobody is playing it, and across all of the internets, there is only one review for the Wii version, which calls it abysmal.

I was actually a little excited for this game. I hadn’t been tracking it much, but from what I had heard here and there it was going to be pretty good. I guess the 360 and PS3 versions aren’t bad, but as has been happening all too much with cross-port third-party titles, the Wii version was pretty much ignored.

Oh well. Just a warning to you guys, in case you were thinking of picking this up. I don’t want any of you wasting money on crappy games, even if the game is the last hurrah of a once-giant company that I had a lot of affection towards.

RIP Atari.

It’s in spectacular 8-bit.

I’ve never been a huge Mega Man fan (I’ve got the collections for GameCube that have never been played) but this news gives me such complete joy. I love 8-bit.

Hopefully there’s an issue of said Nintendo Power waiting for me when I get home, and I can fill you in on some more pertinent information, but until then let this wet your appetite for Mega Man 9 news… The new list of Robot Masters! After the jump of course…

Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man (?), Tornado Man, and Splash Woman.

Yeah, that’s right. There’s a woman in there. You won’t be able to beat her up, of course, because that’s just not the gentlemanly thing to do. Certainly Professor Layton would never hurt a woman, be she a Splash Woman or not…

Some fellows from the UGO Network seem to think they know some stuff that we don’t. On their E3 site, E3.net, they’ve got a list of games that will supposedly be revealed/showed off at this year’s E3. On their list is none other than Kid Icarus Wii.

Some fellows from the UGO Network seem to think they know some stuff that we don’t. On their E3 site, E3.net, they’ve got a list of games that will supposedly be revealed/showed off at this year’s E3. On their list is none other than Kid Icarus Wii.

I’m not going to take this as confirmation, but we all know almost certainly that the game is going to be revealed soon, either at E3 or later this year, so it makes complete sense. I don’t know where UGO is getting their information. For all we know they could be pulling all this stuff out of their ass in hopes that their site gets some valuable blog hype. That seems far more likely to me.

Whether they’re right or not, and whether or not Kid Icarus does get some showtime at E3 in a few weeks, it brings up the question again. What you want from a Wii iteration of Kid Icarus? Some classic impossibly difficult platforming action? A Kid Icarus RPG? Let us know in the comments or on the forums!
